1. What is Battle of Brains?
Battle of Brains (BOB) is a unique platform that helps kids exhibit their skills across four dimensions: design, analytical, literary and stage skills. With refreshing and innovative activities across each dimension, the event aims to encourage creativity and problem-solving skills in children.
2. What are the competitions conducted in Battle of Brains?
Various events and activities are conducted across 4 dimensions in Battle of Brains.
• Boggle: If deciphering codes, unravelling mysteries and finding innovative solutions is your passion, Boggle is your place. With mind-boggling puzzles and intriguing problems to solve, Boggle brings out the discoverer in you.
• Spotlight: Grab the mike, bask in the limelight and express yourself on stage with confidence and panache. Students have the flexibility to display their creativity through any form of self-expression.
• Pulp Fiction: Calling all creative minds to a world of classics, fairy tales and comics. Rewrite plots, introduce characters, twist the climax, create your own masterpiece - it’s your creative and artistic license.
• Dreamscape : Imagine, design and build awe-inspiring gadgets and structures with the given materials. Get ready to defy laws and let your imagination run wild!
The rules of each activity and other information for each round shall be announced at the venue, on the day of the competition.
3. Who is eligible to participate?
Any student between grades IV – X is eligible to participate.
The two levels of entry are:
Level 1: Students of classes 4 to 6.
Level 2: Students of classes 7 to 10.
Students must enrol in teams of three or less. All students in a team must be from the same school.
4. How many rounds does Battle of Brains have?
There are two rounds.
a. Preliminary round: To be conducted at Jal Vihar, Necklace Road on 1st November 2009.
b. Final round: To be conducted at Saptaparni, Banjara Hills on 15th November 2009.
5. Does Battle of Brains have a participation fee?
Yes. The entry fee is Rs.100 per student.
6. How can I register for Battle of Brains?
Battle of Brains application forms are available at your school . The completed application forms and entry fees may be submitted to the activity coordinator of your school.
7. Where can the entry fee be paid?
The entry fee per team may be paid at your school itself. The fee may also be paid at the Catapult office.
8. Can students of different schools form a team?
No. All 3 team members must be from the same school.
9. Can students from different grades be on the same team?
Yes ! Students from grades IV – VI can be in the same team for Level 1. Students from grades VII – X can be in the same team for Level 2. We only insist that all team members are from the same school.
10. Is there a limit to how many teams are allowed from the same school?
No ! There is absolutely no limit to how many teams from a school can participate. Schools can gain additional points based on their level of participation in the event.
11. What is the last date for submitting application forms?
The last date for submitting application forms is 20th October 2009.
12. Any prizes?
The fest is packed with exciting prizes
• A Championship prize for the overall winners of each level
• Prizes for the best performing team in each dimension in each level
• Prizes for the best school
• Prizes for displaying outstanding creativity/ resourcefulness for teams/ individuals
• Special prize for schools displaying fervent enthusiasm and support
• Plenty of participation prizes

13. Are there prizes for schools too?
Yes ! The fest is packed with prizes. Schools are eligible for the Best School award which shall be awarded based on the points garnered by their teams. Schools displaying a high degree of participation and enthusiasm shall also receive special prizes.
14. Can my team participate in only one of the dimensions?
Students have to participate in all the dimensions to reach the Finals. However an extraordinary performance in one of the dimensions may help your team get enough points to reach the Finals. There are also special prizes for outstanding performance in a particular dimension.
15. How can I qualify for the Finals?
Each team will be judged on their performance in all the dimensions. The top 10 teams with cumulative highest scores across all dimensions, in each level shall reach the Finals.
16. When and how will the results of the Preliminary Round be announced?
The results of the Preliminary round will be displayed on our website by November 5th. The teams that qualify for the Finals will also be intimated through their respective schools.
17. When will the results of the Finals be announced?
The results of the Finals will be announced on November 15th at the end of the competition. Prize distribution shall also happen on November 15th.
18. Can team members be changed at a later date?
No, once a team has registered, team members cannot be changed.
19. Do we need to bring anything to the venue?
You only need to bring your school identity card and a pen to the event. All other material, for all the rounds will be provided to you at the venue.
20. Does everybody in a team need to bring an identity card?
Yes, we strongly recommend that every member in a team brings their identity card to the venue.
